Sleep and Insomnia

Getting Quality Sleep

Sleep is an important and essential function to your health. A deficiency in good sleep can lead to a number of other negative health effects. It is at the foundation of good health. Most adults need between 7-9 hours of sleep each night. Establishing a regular sleep schedule is important for your body to be able to rest easily. If you experience difficulty getting to sleep or staying asleep you may have insomnia. There are natural remedies to combat insomnia and help you get the rest you need.

The Triangle of Health

There are sleep medications out there but these can be harmful to your body. We want to find the cause of your difficulty sleeping. In order to get to the root of your insomnia in a holistic manner we look at three aspects of your health to help determine the cause(s). One side of that is your mental/ emotional condition, the second is your chemical/nutritional condition, and the third is your physical/structural condition. These three aspects of your health are related and affect one another. Your symptoms could be caused by deficiencies in any of these areas. You can ask yourself if you're doing something to support yourself in each of these areas such as exercising, eating well, or relieving stress.
